Chris and Heather join Team Ralph!

We are excited to announce two new arrivals to Team Ralph: Chris Posporis and Heather Covey. Chris joins Sue Fitzmaurice as we expand our Neurology + Neurosurgery Service. And Heather joins our Internal Medicine Service, working closely alongside fellow Diplomate, Stefanie Mitze. So, without further ado let us give a big Ralph welcome to Chris and Heather…

Introducing Chris…

Chris graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Timisoara, Romania in 2014. During the early years of his study he developed a strong interest in Neurology, so after graduation he moved to the UK to follow his dream of becoming a neurologist.  After spending two years in primary care, Chris completed a rotating internship at Pride Veterinary Centre and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Surgery and Medicine at the University of Nottingham. Chris then underwent specialist training and completed a 3-year ECVN residency in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery at Pride Veterinary Centre.

Chris’ special interests include movement disorders, neuromuscular conditions, epilepsy, and electroencephalography (EEG). He is also very interested in clinical research and has published papers in scientific journals.

Chris is a proud father of three dogs and two cats who he rescued during his university years. When not in the hospital, you can find Chris walking in the countryside with his dogs and acting as his cat’s loyal servant at home. Chris also loves to travel, cook, and play tennis.

Introducing Heather…

Heather graduated from Cambridge Veterinary School in 2007. After several years in small animal practice in the Peak District, she embarked on a round-the-world sailing race, followed by a year in mixed practice in New Zealand. On returning to the UK, Heather completed an internship and then a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College. She joined the Animal Health Trust immediately afterwards, working there for two and a half years as an Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology specialist, before joining Team Ralph. Heather is interested in all aspects of medicine, especially interventional procedures and hepatology.

Heather lives in the countryside on her family farm, with her husband Rob and one-eyed springer spaniel, Rhum. She loves hiking, sailing, skiing and canoeing and can be found most days in the garden, encouraging her vegetables to grow.

We are delighted to have Chris and Heather onboard The Ralph bus, as we continue along our journey to deliver an excellent and compassionate service.

Stay tuned for more exciting news and stories from inside the hospital.

Take care,

Team Ralph

Update: Chris, Sue and Stefanie have since left The Ralph, and we wish them all the best for their future adventures!
