Why is our hospital called The Ralph?

Ralph was an adorable rescue cat that Shailen helped to treat after he was hit by a car in 2008. They went on to spend two years sharing a home together before Ralph sadly passed away in 2010. It was in his memory that Shailen set up The Ralph Site, a non-profit online pet loss community that supports countless carers through the bereavement process. When Shailen’s idea for a veterinary referral hospital was born, it felt only right that as a lasting tribute to the wonderful Ralph, the hospital be named in his honour.

How do I know my pet will be well cared for?

Our patients will always be given excellent care and treated with compassion.

We always take the time to care for and treat each animal as an individual and have a deep understanding and respect for the relationship between our patients and their human families.

We are patient with those in our care and understand that there is so much more to hospital care than medication, tests and operations. We take time to get to know them and to nurse them.

We follow the fundamentals of compassionate care to ensure that our patients are supported to be as relaxed as possible and that their experience with us is healing and positive.

We always act with our patient’s best interests at heart and ensure that our pet carers are fully up to date and informed every step of the way.

These beliefs are all reflected in the core values that we live and breathe every day. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

What should I do if I have a nervous pet?

If your animal companion is nervous around other animals/humans, firstly please try not to worry.

We have a number of ways to help including a dedicated Champion of Compassionate Patient Care Team, headed up by Caroline Martin, who will be able to provide support and guidance to ensure your pet’s visit is as relaxed as possible.

Please contact the Compassionate Patient Care Team on relaxedvisit@theralph.vet who will be happy to help.
