Lorena Álvarez Mínguez

DVM, MRCVS

ECC OOH Clinician

Lorena graduated from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in 2016. After several years in first opinion practice, she decided to expand her knowledge by completing  an Emergency and Critical Care Internship in Valencia (Spain). It was then, Lorena set her goal of becoming a specialist in ECC, so in 2021 she completed a Rotating Internship at a specialist centre within the East of the UK.

In 2022, Lorena started her Emergency and Critical Care Internship at The Ralph, for which she feels very lucky as the caseload is extensive and they get to see all types of emergencies.

One of the most difficult challenges Lorena has had to face in her life was the loss of her own dog, Neska, who passed away from an osteosarcoma in 2022 (an aggressive type on cancer). That made Lorena understand how it feels to be on the other side of the table and how vulnerable we can be in such a difficult time.

Lorena has a special interest in coagulation and electrolyte disorders and mechanical ventilation.
