Emergency & Critical Care Nursing
The Ralph opened in February 2019. Since then we have seen steady growth. Our 24/7/365 referral Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) service has been one of our busiest. Team ECC consists of a dedicated ECC Nursing team working alongside ECC Diplomates, Advanced Practitioners and Interns.
The service operates out of our separate Dog and Cat ICUs and Emergency Dog Ward. We have all the advanced facilities you would expect in a dedicated referral ICU. We are one of the very few centres in the UK that offers mechanical ventilation.
As an ECC Nurse, you will care for ICU inpatients and help to admit new emergency referrals. Our caseload is varied and includes all the conditions you would expect. Trauma, dyspnoea, septic peritonitis, collapse, acute gastroenteritis, IMHA etc. Central lines, feeding tubes, POCUS scans, transfusions, multiple CRIs, infusion pumps, syringe drivers, multiparameter monitors, use of “the cot” and much more are aplenty!
Experience in ECC and Out of Hours nursing, especially at a referral level, would be ideal. We are also keen to hear from nurses with referral experience in related disciplines (e.g. Internal Medicine) keen to pursue an ECC career. Post-Graduate qualification in ECC would be nice but is not essential. Being kind, compassionate, hard-working, open-minded and with a learning mindset are essential!
The Ralph is an independent hospital that focuses on culture, core values and mission. If you want to know more about this, we would love to hear from you.
