Accounts Assistant

Job Summary

Our Finance team is a small, close-knit team. One of our team members is leaving to pursue other paths, so we are looking for the right candidate to slot in full-time or part-time. A love of cake and country music would be a plus but not mandatory!

The Ralph is a compassion-focused multidisciplinary specialist referral centre for dogs and cats in beautiful Marlow, Bucks, west of London. Easily accessible from the M4 and M40 via the A404, our thriving team of 260 Ralphers is excited to welcome you! Our hospital is five and a half years old and treats several thousand new patients yearly.

Job Responsibilities

The role will involve some or all of the following:

– Reviewing accounts and engaging with team members and policyholders

– Processing complex pet insurance claims (online and paper)

– Discussing invoices and claims

– Dealing with insurance company queries

– Responding to pet carer queries

– Daily banking and reconciliations

– Producing ad-hoc finance reports from our practice management system

Person Specification

We are seeking someone with the following talents:

– Highly developed interpersonal customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex numerical information concisely.

– Computer literacy

– Knowledge of the pet insurance process, including how excess works

– Experience with spreadsheets

– Able to use own initiative

– Motivated, organised and able to prioritise own workload

– Good telephone skills

– A keen eye for detail

– A liking for problem-solving

– Good understanding of numbers

You ideally have previous experience working in a veterinary practice or hospital and some clinical knowledge. Full training will be provided, and we can offer flexible working hours.

Employment Terms

– Full-time or part-time

– Flexible working hours potentially with some working from home

– Salary: £25,000-27,000 a year, depending on experience and qualifications

– 28 days annual leave  (incl.  Bank Holidays)

– Participation in the Employee Share Options Scheme

– Discretionary training allowance and support for further qualifications
