Lara graduated from the University of Lisbon in 2015 and moved shortly after to the UK following her passion for Internal Medicine and with the ambition to pursue further specialisation in this area. She worked in both first opinion and referral centres, where she completed two Rotating Internships.

In 2019, following a medicine specific internship, Lara started a three-year residency programme in Internal Medicine at a busy private referral hospital. After the residency Lara worked in different referral centres in the UK. She was awarded the EBVS European Specialist in Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2024. Lara has a wide interest in all aspects of small animal medicine, particularly renal, gastrointestinal disease and immune-mediated disorders.

Outside work, Lara enjoys going on long walks in the countryside, baking and spending time with her cat Cacau.
