Head of Surgery

Daniella graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1998. She then spent 14 years in a busy small animal primary care and surgical referral centre in Nottingham, during which time she completed her RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (Cert SAS). In 2013, Daniella undertook an ECVS Residency in Small Animal Surgery and gained the ECVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery in 2018.

In addition to Daniella’s clinical work, she also enjoys scientific research. She received the BSAVA Dunkin Award for “The most valuable article published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP) by a small animal practitioner in 2017” and provides continuing professional development (CPD) to the wider veterinary community.

Here at The Ralph, Daniella is involved in all aspects of managing patients who are referred for soft tissue, orthopaedic and neuro surgery. Daniella is particularly interested in soft tissue surgery especially reconstructive, thoracic and minimally invasive surgery. As Head of Surgery, Daniella’s role also includes maintaining and improving clinical standards to ensure we continually provide excellent patient care, as well as supporting and developing the surgical team.

Away from work, Daniella has a very lively 4-year-old Labrador called Hector (who keeps her on her toes!), as well as a beautiful ginger Domestic Shorthaired cat called Oscar. In her spare time, Daniella enjoys scuba diving, walking Hector and riding her sports motorbike. Her greatest love is spending time with wild animals whilst on safari in Southern Africa.
