After leaving school many years ago, Andrew served an apprenticeship as a car mechanic but, sadly, did not enjoy it. He then moved into the leisure industry, progressing from lifeguard and supervisor to centre manager, before moving into production management.

Having been made redundant, Andrew took the opportunity to join the NHS South Central Ambulance Service. He started with the Patient Transport Service (PTS), then progressed to frontline ambulance work, and finally into paediatric emergency response, working out of the neonatal unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Some of Andrew’s personal achievements include competing in the Welsh Open Triathlon, which consisted of a 1-mile sea swim, a 50-mile cycle ride, and a 13-mile run. He was the first competitor out of the sea and finished in 9th place out of 375 competitors.

While working for the South Central Ambulance Service, Andrew was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Andrew’s current interests include rugby, which he has played since the age of 12. After gaining coaching qualifications with the WRU (Welsh Rugby Union), he coached at London Welsh Rugby Club and still attends rugby training on Friday nights, playing “walking rugby” although the walking aspect of the game is open to debate!

Andrew also enjoys canoeing, going to the gym, learning to play the acoustic guitar, and studying Spanish.

Andrew joined The Ralph in January 2026. He has always had a love for animals and has cared for dogs and cats throughout his life.
