Meet our new Oncologist, Julie!

We are very excited to announce the arrival of Julie Pradel, European Veterinary Specialist in Oncology, to Team Ralph! Julie joins the wonderful Stefano, Inge and Enya in providing care to our patients with cancer.

Let’s meet Julie…

Julie (Dip ECVIM-CA (Onc) MRCVS EBVS European Veterinary Specialist in Oncology) graduated from Liege University in 2006. After some time in general practice, she completed a rotating internship in a referral hospital in Bordeaux, where she then worked as an assistant in the Internal Medicine department. During this time, she developed a growing interest in Oncology…

“Swan was a beautiful Rottweiler who I treated with chemotherapy for a stage 5 high grade multicentric lymphoma. The lymphoma had caused bilateral hyphema (pooling of blood in the eye) and retinal detachment (when the thin layer at the back of your eye, the retina, becomes loose), and he was blind on initial presentation. He regained his vision after a couple of weeks and, thanks to the treatment, enjoyed another year with an excellent quality of life. Prior to this experience I had had little exposure to oncology. It was this experience with Swan which motivated me to learn more about oncology, and after a couple of years I decided to move to the UK to specialise in this field.”

Julie undertook a specialised internship followed by a 3-year residency programme in Small Animal Medical Oncology and became a Diplomate in 2019. Julie has previously worked at a number of specialist referral centres, before joining Team Ralph.

Julie enjoys all aspects of medical oncology, and has a particular interest in lymphoma and anal sac gland adenocarcinoma.

Outside of work, Julie shares her life with her partner and their rescue long haired Chihuahua called Chilli Pepper.  She enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family and exploring new places.
