The Acute Abdomen: What Would You Do? An Anaesthetic Simulation.
Thursday, 31 July 2025, 7.30pm - 9pm
Join us for a real-time, interactive discussion with our Head of Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Robyn Thomson, as we manage a hypothetical emergency: a Labrador with an acute abdomen requiring immediate surgery.
This isn’t just a CPD session, it’s a live, decision-based simulation.
You’ll work through the case step by step, discussing your considerations, how we would prepare, and what anaesthetic approach to take. Then, we’ll hypothetically anaesthetise the patient, and as complications arise, you will decide on the next steps.
Your decisions will determine the outcome. Your choices will directly influence the simulated anaesthetic monitoring data, displayed live on screen via a real-time monitor. Watch the effects of your clinical reasoning unfold and test your ability to adapt under pressure.
Whether you’re in general practice or a referral setting, this session offers practical takeaways, collaborative discussion, and a unique opportunity to trial your anaesthetic approach in a high-stakes scenario, without the real-life pressure.
